[UIC Radio], Audio Programme Editor

The audio programme editor:
(a) Shall personally agree to, and comply with, the Mission Statement and the Statement of Faith of the United In Christ, [UIC], ministry.

(b) Shall be computer literate.

(c) Shall only make & edit audio programmes that embody and comply with the station’s Mission Statement and its Statement of Faith.

(d) Shall be responsible for editing audio programmes that aim for the highest standard in terms of scripting, sound quality and editing.

(e) Shall aim, as far as possible, to provide audio programmes that cause the listener to be edified, encouraged and led into a deeper personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

(f) Shall edit the audio programme to achieve the intention of the audio programme Producer.

(g) Shall be fully competent in the use of Cool Edit, or other sound editing software, and equipment used to bring the audio signals from the source to the computer.

(h) Shall not use editing to alter the sense of what has been said – which would be regarded as unethical – or place the material within an unintended context.

(i) Shall observe the following principles of editing;
(i) To rearrange recorded material into a more logical sequence.
(ii) To remove the uninteresting, repetitive or technically unacceptable.
(iii) To so edit that the audio programme running time fits the allocated time slot in the schedule.
(iv) Using creative effect to produce new juxtapositions of speech, music, sound and silence.

[UIC Radio], Control Room Operator

The control room operator:
(a) Shall personally agree to, and comply with, the Mission Statement and the Statement of Faith of the United In Christ, [UIC], ministry.

(b) Shall be computer literate.

(c) Shall only make & edit audio programmes that embody and comply with the station’s Mission Statement and its Statement of Faith.

(d) Shall be responsible for operating the sound desk and associated equipment to produce recordings of the highest standard in terms of sound quality and editing.

(e) Shall aim, as far as possible, to provide audio programmes that cause the listener to be edified, encouraged and led into a deeper personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

(f) Shall follow the intention of the audio programme Producer with regard to the sound produced ensuring that microphones are correctly placed.

(g) Shall be fully competent in the use of Cool Edit, or other sound editing software, and equipment used to bring the audio signals from the source to the computer.

(h) Shall not use editing to alter the sense of what has been said – which would be regarded as unethical – or place the material within an unintended context.

(i) Shall ensure that the equipment in the studio is functioning correctly well before the recording session so that any malfunction can be reported to the audio technician.

(j) Shall ensure that that those in the studio are made aware of the time available for recording and the progress of the recording session through the use of talk-back.
If asked to assist with editing the following principles of editing shall be applied;
(i) To rearrange recorded material into a more logical sequence.
(ii) To remove the uninteresting, repetitive or technically unacceptable.
(iii) To so edit that the audio programme running time fits the allocated time slot in the schedule.
(iv) Using creative effect to produce new juxtapositions of speech, music, sound and silence.


[UIC Radio], Assistant Executive Producer

The Assistant Executive Producer:

(a) Shall personally agree to, and comply with, the Mission Statement and the Statement of Faith of the United In Christ, [UIC], ministry.

(b) Shall support the UIC Radio Executive Producer and in his/her absence shall cover the responsibilities outlined in paragraphs (c) to (k).

(c) Shall have overall responsibility for making & airing programmes that aim for the highest standard in terms of scripting, sound quality and editing.

(d) Shall only make & air programmes that embody and comply with the Mission Statement and Statement of Faith.

(e) Shall fully understand the process of programme making and accept responsibility for all aspects of the programmes so that the listener shall be edified, encouraged and led into a deeper personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

(f) Shall be responsible for co-ordinating the programme provision and development of programming at the UIC Radio Station ensuring a consistent standard.

(g) Shall be responsible for developing a style of programming that uniquely identifies and ‘brands’ the Radio Station.

(h) Shall, until more editing assistance is available, be responsible for ‘in-house’ programme production.

(i) Shall sit on, and report to, the UIC Board.

(j) Shall sit on and report to the Radio Station Technical Group meetings.

(k) Shall, with the Station Manager’s assistance, be responsible for the training of Producers, Editors, Control Room Operators, Technicians, Interviewers, Presenters & Announcers.

The Station Manager:

(a) Shall personally agree to, and comply with, the Mission Statement and the Statement of Faith of the United In Christ, [UIC], ministry.

(b) Shall only permit programmes to air that accord with the Mission Statement and the Statement of Faith.

(c) Shall reasonably ensure that the programmes aired shall cause the listener to be edified, encouraged and led into a deeper personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

(d) Shall be responsible for co-ordinating the running and development of the Radio Station.

(e) Shall develop relations with other Radio bodies.

(f) Shall chair the meetings of the UIC Radio Station Technical Group.

(g) Shall co-ordinate the jobs of production, programming, speech, finances and music, and shall oversee technical and safety matters.

(h) Shall sit on, and report to, the UIC Board.

(i) Shall be responsible for all communications with the members of UIC Radio.

(j) Shall co-ordinate market research, advertising, publicity and promotions for UIC Radio.

(k) Shall ensure that the station complies with all copyright licensing and broadcasting regulations.

(l) Shall, with the co-operation of the Accountant, ensure that all music copyright monies are paid to the MCPS-PRS and the PPL authorities.

(m) Shall, when necessary, assist the Executive Producer with the training of Producers, Editors, Control Room Operators, Technicians, Interviewers, Presenters & Announcers.

(d) Shall fully understand the process of programme making and accept responsibility for all aspects of the programme so that the listener shall be edified, encouraged and led into a deeper personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

(e) Shall defer to the Executive Producer, or in his/her absence the Assistant Executive Producer, as the final arbiter of what is acceptable to air.
